Wellway Laburnum Patient FAQs
You may be aware that Laburnum Medical Group has been notified of the decision to terminate their contract and will close by 27 July 2020.
NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) took the decision to terminate the practice’s contract due to a number of reasons that have been covered in their communications. They have been working with us and other GP practices in the local area to transfer the care of Laburnum Medical Group’s patients. As a result, a number of patients will be registered with us and we are keen to ensure the patient journey between practices is as smooth as possible.
Immediately following the transfer, we may see a slight increase in demand but to help keep any short term disruption to services to a minimum, we have increased the number of staff in our clinical and non-clinical teams to accommodate this.
We realise this will be an uncertain time for everyone involved. However, we would like to reassure you that the needs of all existing and new patients are important to us. This change will not affect your care, access to services or appointments. We remain committed to providing high quality care for all our patients.

Please use the contact numbers below if you have been registered with Wellway if you are unwell and need medical attention. Our appointments are released at 8.00 each morning. Due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic please do not turn up at the surgery without an appointment.

If your repeat medications are due for issue please call your main surgery number listed above. Please only request your next prescription when you have 7 days remaining of your existing supply to allow us to prioritise those needed most urgently.
We will contact you in due course to arrange new patient health checks and chronic disease reviews. You do not need to contact the surgery to arrange this. We may contact you to confirm your details are correct and to offer online access for appointments and prescriptions.
